Full Bio
Kevin Ebert is a professional musician and guitar teacher based in Cincinnati, Ohio, with over 25 years of instructional experience. He’s worked with students of all ages and skill levels—from absolute beginners to advanced players preparing for professional music careers.

From 2007 to 2020, Kevin served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Music at Xavier University, teaching private lessons, group classes, ensembles, and courses in music history and appreciation. During this time, he also developed and taught a specialized course called Heavy Metal: Music, Culture & Politics. He has also taught at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and continues to be active in music scholarship.

As a member of the International Society for Metal Music Studies (ISMMS), Kevin has presented papers at conferences in San Francisco, Vancouver, Nashville, Montreal, and more. He is the co-editor of Teaching Metal in the College Classroom (forthcoming, 2026) and has written about metal music and education in Connecting Metal to Culture (2017). He is currently completing his PhD in Higher Education Leadership at the University of Dayton, where he focuses on leadership, popular music studies and curriculum development.

Beyond the classroom, Kevin is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Russia), a working performer, and a dedicated educator with a passion for helping students develop confidence and creativity through music.

He lives in Cincinnati with his wife, Anastasia, their son Edward (a talented swimmer and budding multi-instrumentalist), and their two pets—Nochka, a stealthy black cat, and Loki, a dog with more personality than he probably needs.
